We're going to re-sign Mr half-a-season aren't we? I have a sinking feeling that he'll be back I think if he does return, he'll be much better. In his 1st year, he was learning about the league (much like many other new imports) and took time to adjust. Last season, I understand that there was a large chunk of the summer where he didn't train etc due to rehab on his shoulder, which put him way behind the curve. If he has a good summer and can prepare properly - I think we can expect some good things. However, I would also be quite clear that it's offensive production in the first two months, no excuses, or find another job.

Robinson was still our top points scorer in 16/17 ahead of Bergman for whom the general consensus was disappointment that he didn't re-sign.
IMO, the club need to drop the "Robbo-Mania" crap and leave him to get on with his job if he's re-signed.
Talk about having the monkey of high expectation on your back!!

Top points scorer in a team that finished 9th out of 10 teams in goals scored is not much of an accolade though. In the EIHL he finished 28th in the points scoring charts and scored a scant 11 goals (3 more than Godfrey). For me, he's been carried for half a season for two consecutive seasons and other players have had to pick up that slack, No wonder he was able to contribute so much in the second half of the season, he'd been paid to skate around a bit and do precious little else for 3 months, I'd have him out without a moment's hesitation. Bergman contributed in every game, I'd have him back ahead of Robinson day in day out.

Agree fully with Takina. If we want to improve Robinson has to go. Carried by Bruton in season 1 after an awful start then last season was even worse. Blaze fans are definitely the worst for wanting failed players back. Any released player is met with derision by fans who are happy if a player is a 'nice guy' or 'puts effort in'. We can improve on him and I expect us too.

Yeah, definitely don't want to see Robbo back. Personally not particularly fussed about bergman either. He had skill, definitely, but I don't think he quite fitted our league, and his little meanders with the puck resulted in giving up more goals than I care to remember. Anyone know anything about tait, Stewart and Marr?

Renny moves on to Swindon Wildcats.
A good move for him where the extra ice time will help his progression.

Totally agree. When he had "real" ice time I thought he looked composed and never let any early goals against ruin his concentration. Wish him well at Swindon, wonder where DS will go to look for a new back up

Blaze confirm that Ashley Tait will not be part of the line up next season.
Thanks Ashley on two successful stints at the club, both got you silverware.

Best wishes to Tait in whatever his future happens to be, he's been a real asset to Coventry. Not clear from the website whether he's staying in hockey or retiring from it.
It may just be me but I'm more than just a little worried now that we're looking very thin on British players, basically we've lost Tait / Cowley / Davis / Marr and have have gained Ferrara. Decent British players tend to get captured early and I fear that we could be in danger of ending up short on home grown talent. Just me?

If we're running 3 lines, as Danny's interview suggests, then realistically we only need 4 Brits.
2 NM, 6 D, 10 F = 18 players 14 of those are likely imports, leaving 4 British spots.
1 Brit backup NM + Clements, Venus & Ferrara.
Job done!

Good Luck to Renny he deserves to get the ice time Swindon will provide. I wonder if Ash will drop down to that league too, it doesn't mention retirement.

I presume a team will announce Tait soon based on our release that he's leaving. Obviously he brings more to the ice than points bit they really seem to have dropped off a cliff recently. An up and coming player like Ferrara could probably put up similar numbers and there's still a few younger brits out there who could put up better ones.

Marquardt to the Steelers, in probably the most expected move of the season

If we're saving money by only running 3 lines plus losing some of our (presumably) top earners in Tait and B.Stewart, i expect some big big signings for our top 2 lines.

Judging by his 'come get me' tweets, it looks like Liam hasn't been re-signed!
Only room for one 'Stewart' on the bench?

Im not too disappointed. I think he would have wanted a significant pay increase and he isn't good enough to be paid top 6 wages. Therefore we can find a third line replacement and spend this money on creative players.

I'm disappointed, as I was with Syner, Almeida, Bergman, and now Liam. You don't get player of the season for nowt!
