First of all it was a great result in Cardiff and although I didn't see it, it certainly sounded like a pretty complete performance. I was very pleased for the way things worked out for Klotz after all the build up too.
Sunday was frustrating to say the least. Fife played very well and stuck rigidly to their system - they stopped us getting virtually any quality shots on the netminder and he was very solid when called upon. We looked devoid of ideas at times and short on inspiration.
The comments above about us having too many playmakers do ring true at times, but I don't think this is helped by the make-up of the top two lines. I've banged on about this for a while now, but we had Marquardt, Zajac and Bombis out together last night who are all arguably more playmaker than goal scorer while Bergman, Robinson and Pietrus (who should be the go to goal scorers) were on the other line. That doesn't make sense to me.
On the plus side, Noble was excellent as was Brian Stewart. We were pushing so far up at times that we were easy to catch out on a break, but on the whole the defence got back well.
I'm most surprised that we didn't score on the powerplay as that's been pretty good so far and I feel that if we'd go one then we'd have gone on to win.

I agree, taking one point from Cardiff would've been a success, let alone two. Coventry can be both pleased and proud of the way they played and the apples of their performance.
Fife knew what they had to do and executed it well, It's frustrating that we couldn't penetrate them even once, I agree that if we could've gotten one goal then you could've seen a fair few more trickle in afterwards. Especially on the numerous powerplay opportunities we were given. Speaking of which, did anyone actually see the slashing call on Bergman? I look away for two seconds and bam, there goes our final big chance.
Personally I'd keep Marquardt and Bombis together, they seem to be the only pairing to be able to find each other across the ice, though I'd like to see either Bergman or Pietrus with them.
I suppose you could take that, yes, we were quite good defensively, only one goal against and that was on the PK, especially well done to Noble and (Liam) Stewart, who both seemed to be blocking shooting lanes and shots out all night. Also (Brian) Stewart seems to have returned to form, some absolutely wonderful saves from last night, just a shame our forwards couldn't capitalise on his good game.
