I feel although we have to, running the netminder is never okay, if roles were reversed and Klotz were to have ran Day then I'd like to see some discipline put into action. It's career ending and game ruining, and when it's so clearly intentional should carry a heavy heavy ban. As said earlier, Sheffield got their 4 points in those brief moments, and whether it was a decision on the bench or a reaction from Zach we'll never know.
It's a shame that two potentially good games were ruined, and without any signs of retribution either.

If Fitzgerald does not get some sort of Ban for that god help us ,it will send out the message you can run a goalie that hit is horrendous no attempt to avoid at all. Very disappointed with the players on the ice they should have reacted to that it would of started a riot with some of our past rosters.

I can think of a few ex players who would have returned the compliment the next shift.

Just watched the first couple minutes of highlights to see the incident.
I have no idea how the first goal was given with a Steeler backing into Stewart until he falls on him, then they score. But none of our players even seem to argue
Then the Fitgerald hit is awful. But the league has never protected goalies. Devils used to have a player that always cut in front of goal, colliding with our goalie and hardly ever got called. Then there was the Panthers game where Cruikshank dished out his own justice. But again, where is the reaction from the players.
Both the incidents are shocking reffing decisions imo but also there is absolutely no passion or sticking yp for each other from a single player on the ice. If that had happened a few years ago even players like Calder would have jumped Fitzgerald knowing they would have lost the fight.

Brian Stewart's one of the nicest guys to meet and speak to, so the idea that he's fallen out with other players seems a bit ridiculous, but as you say there was absolutely no reaction to either of those incidents. Compare that to Sheffield's reaction to Cantin's open ice hit, and then Klotz' reaction to their reaction, and on the face of it, it seems odd. My gut feeling is that our coach had told his team to avoid confrontations and to stay out of the bin at the start of the game. Once the game was already lost, it no longer mattered.

Looking at the first goal, I am not sure but it may have been given because Stewart was out of his crease and/or the collision was accidental as the Steelers player did not know Stewart was behind him. Not saying that is the case, just giving reasons why it may have been given.

www.coventryblaze.co.uk/news/fitzgerald-banned-for-two-games-20161102Fizgerald to get a two game ban against Edinburgh and Dundee, which seems a little 'soft' on him really, considering current news on Stewie is up to 6 weeks missing only 2 games against bottom half of the table teams is a bit unfair for lack of a better word. Oh well, I suppose missing 2 games is better than nothing (which with the current state of DOPS was a possibility), shame we aren't seeing any benefits of it though, especially as they will probably win those games relatively comfortably without him in the lineup.

Couple of seasons back Pacha got 2 for throwing a water bottle on the ice. Go ahead run netminders, all part of the game ....

Not saying that is the case, just giving reasons why it may have been given. That's pretty much it: For me, the Steeler in front of Stewart is trying to play/redirect the puck and gets a bump and falls into him. Stewart is out of the crease and I'd describe it as 'incidental' contact. If Stewart was inside the crease, the goal would have been washed out. I like his aggressive play, but that is one drawback to it.

I think 2 games for Fitzgerald is a touch light, but I'm pleased we asked for a review despite it not benefiting us - it's the principle here more than anything else. I was concerned that DOPS wouldn't add any punishment - much like Peacock's stick swinging escapades, but they've at least done something

We took the risk of losing the fee despite knowing a positive result wouldn't benefit us, because it was the right thing to do. There's nothing in that ruling that would stop Fitzgerald doing it again, but if he did then you'd hope past misconducts would be taken into consideration and a harsher penalty given. Nothing in this system would stop a different Sheffield player doing the same in our next game though, and why wouldn't they, seeing as it's worked so well for them this time? It should've been four games minimum for me - having a week off is no deterrent.

where have you heard this season ending news Takina claimed it to be "a rumour of a rumour of a rumour". I'm praying it to just be an "imagine if" turned into an "it is", but until Chunk posted earlier that was the latest news. Personally I haven't even heard a whisper of a rumour about him. Sorry Takina but I'd be a happier man if Chunk was right. Chunk heard two rumours, one being less than a month and the other being back this weekend.

Don't get me wrong - I'll be absolutely ecstatic if the rumour I heard is proved to be false - I'd be super happy indeed to see Stewart ice this weekend!

The cynic in me thinks that if Stewart was icing we'd already have heard.
