Well a slightly less optimistic entrance into these games, Sheffield are a better club than us and will be able to shut down the likes of Bergman and the cousins quite easily, I think if we can take one or two points from the weekend in total I'll be happy, would like to see a lot of Klotz and a lot of Noble as well as a significant amount of powerplay pressure, one of the few things I thought our previous weekend was missing. Though on the flip side of that, I wasn't too hopeful for the Cardiff/Nottingham weekend until that morning, so maybe we'll be in for a pleasant surprise.
And on another positive note, if Dundee win their games in hand they no longer go cleanly above us, we'll be on the same points (I don't know about all that fiddly malarkey that comes afterwards), and Edinburgh will only be one point ahead if they can win all four games (And we're playing both of them in a few weeks, they could be big games for us*).
*A big game=/=a good game, I expect true bottom of the table clashing-s in all of their... Glory?

Any points out of this weekend can be seen as a good achievement, that being said if we stick to our strengths and play a simple game we have a chance. Key will be staying out of the box and denying them PP opportunities.
We need to make sure we beat Dundee in our remaining game to ensure we win the series. Equally denying Caps the points from us is key; they have every chance of beating their other conference teams enough to pick the wins up we need to ensure it doesn't happen to us.

I really miss beating Sheffield - those wins and reaching the PO final were the highlights of last season for me.
I wasn't looking forward to this weekend at all, but if we play like we did last weekend then we should at least give them a game this time. Let's hope it's a barnstormer Sunday.

We'll have to be on top form this weekend and play sensible hockey. No silly penalties and get the powerplay clicking - will have to take the opportunities when they arise. I see us nicking a point along the way, will be tough.

So what's everyone's feeling about the weekend now? I'm really looking forward to Sunday, not for the result but to see if we can maintain our form, would be nice to pick up a few points over the weekend.

So game day over in Sheffield, if I was putting money on it I'd be saying Sheffield Sheffield Sheffield, odds are 4/1 on us and 2/5 on them... Far from being favoured that's for sure.

Last week I predicted 1 and we got 4 including an away win in Cardiff so whilst we may not be favourites if Sheffield take us for granted we might just cause an upset. I suspect we'll get nothing tonight but I too am really looking forward to tomorrow's game. Wonder if Sheffield have a webcast? (tongue firmly in cheek....)

Looks like we're missing Jorgensen and Noble tonight. A tough game just a lot tougher, looking pretty thin on D

Bit disappointing that we came away with nothing points wise but absolute kudos to a short benched squad for fighting and fighting and fighting. Post game DS clearly very angry but admirably he adhered to EIHL guidelines on criticism ......
Hopefully we'll have a longer bench tomorrow and in addition can use today's issues to create a "fight back" mentality. Really looking forward to the game.

Disappointing we didn't get anything to show from that game, from the sounds of it we kept clawing back and there just wasn't enough in our tanks to push for a goal in that minute and something seconds, shame because if we had Jorgenson or Noble that could've been a very different game. Oh well, looking into tonight's game I'm not convinced we're going to be seeing a better result, but equally, all it takes is for some "outside influences" to roll our way and we could easily dominate too.

Well played Blaze, so unlucky we deserved something from that game! Not starting with Noble and Jorgenson, then losing Godfrey last night we did really well. Hope for something tonight.

That was a terrible display from the ref, steelers didn't deserve that win. What a brilliant performance from our boys to be down to 1 regular D man for most of the third period, each and every player stepped up tonight, but why oh why being so seriously short did Klotzy not get ice time?

That was a Blaze DNA performance. Gutsy, everyone bought in and gave it their all. Yes we'd have liked 2 points, but I'll take the point we got against all that adversity.
One proud Blaze fan this morning.

Phenomenal performance, but absolutely heart breaking too.
To get a point when you've been down to one defenseman at times was great, but I just hate losing to Sheffield and we were so close! Seconds from killing the 4 on 3 when we were 3-2 up and when Cantin's wrap around hit the post... He must have skated past 6 players (and they only had 3 on the ice). The effort from the whole team deserved a regulation win, no question.
There was a huge amount of team spirit shown and hopefully that will give us a chance to push on and secure a playoff spot. Dundee aren't making it easy though, they seem to have hit form just as we're due to travel up there.

My sentiments precisely. But having been at Sheffield the night before, I was also relieved that they didn't screw us out of the point.
It did feel last night that black and white stripes is the new orange as well, but I'm not bitter ;-)

Brilliant performance last night - given the circumstances it was very much a point won, not a point lost. Team gave everything they had. Difficult to pick out a standout performance, but for me Marquardt, Liam Stewart and Robinson (especially given he was playing out of position) were all superb.
I'll be interested to see the highlights on the three big calls in the 3rd period. From watching on the tiny webcast screen on the gantry, Cantin's penalty looked fair, Boutin's maybe a bit soft, Coyle was probably done by the interpretation of a check to the head (which is an automatic match for causing an injury).
