Overall I was very pleasantly surprised. Don't know if Manchester were missing players but we were down Courchaine (not arrived I gather), Noble (injured) and our, as yet unsigned, final D. Storm have some big bodies and despite dominating the 1st period the Blaze never backed down and showed themselves to be a pretty feisty group.
All 3 Manchester goals came on the PP and a couple of the penalty calls in that 1st period were a little soft to say the least so 5 on 5 we were more than a match for Manchester for whom no. 79 looked stand out to me. If I were Danny I think I'd be pretty pleased with tonight's performance.
So - much more encouraging that I feared, I thought that Ladd and Patterson were pretty quiet for most of the game, Venus rightfully mom and already some chemistry between Vallerand and Dingle, both look like real class, throw in Courchaine and we could be a tough outfit. Ben Lake worked really hard all night and threw check after check, he must be knackered now.
Finally - if I could have awarded my own own personal awards, step forward the back up netties for each team - both saved some good scoring opportunities and both kept a clean sheet for 20 mins, the Storm back up need not be disappointed with the Dingle PS winner - they'll be plenty of 1st string minders with more experience than him that Dingle will beat one on one
Looking forward to Sunday.

That pretty well sums up my thoughts although you seem to have got a better grip of who's who quicker than me, the refereeing set the tone in the first period, I think most of what he called was technically right, but what he didn't call was atrocious. Good to see Hicks took the time to use the goal line tech to confirm what was otherwise very debatable and quite possibly would have been wiped out.
I do think the size of the opposition was a bit of a concern as we seemed to be muscled off the puck with ease.
And finally....... those bloomin drums are awful! I know the idea is to spark the crowd but it doesn't work when someone is constantly banging a drum for no reason, I don't know if Block 2 sing any more as all I got was a constant banging that drowned out any hope of some real atmosphere

Think we need to take Ahnelov off the PK as the guy was on the ice for all three goals against (and I know that Patterson definitely was on for two, if not all three as well)

Ok seen three games, we could be 3-0 or 0-3. It looks to me that the biggest issue is when we have the puck behind the blue line far to many passes go astray giving it back to the opposition, hopfully this will change when the players get sharper - though this was a problem all last season. Unfortunatly #58 is closed down immediatly wherever his is on the ice, can see DS playing a forward in his shift again this year. My main worry this year is playing on Saturday in an arena, having to work our socks off and then not been able to beat a team in or conference or from Scotland.

Our d will cost us massively this year. I didn't rate it highly before the much heralded last signing we were told was coming and now, after signing someone who looks weaker than what we had already, we are left with 6 number 3-6 defencemen and no top end ones. We will need to score a lot of goals this year to compensate for this.

What lines are we running with so far?

Top line has been Vallerand, Dingle and Venus. I would assume Venus will be replaced by Courchaine when he arrives (I think he's in now), although he has played well up there. Vallerand and Dingle look good together; they could find some early chemistry and be dangerous. Second line has varied. First game, Paquette played with Lake and Ladd, but then with Paquette sitting on Sunday, the bottom two lines seemed pretty fluid. Robbo, Lake, Bebris and Ladd popped up on all sorts of line combinations, so we'll see what we've got when Courchaine and Paquette are both in the line-up. I would personally like to see Bebris signed as a spare import to give some competition. In the games so far he's looked perfectly comfortable, and he gives us a bit more size. Overall, I quite like the forwards, but the D is underwhelming, to put it politely.

I want to know who is the player wearing Robinson's shirt? That player doesn't usually turn up until January.

I know it's hard to gauge in pre season (I remember thinking this time last year that Bombis was going to be a major force for us ...) but what do people think of the new nettie?
I'm not overly impressed but can't put my finger on quite why, He strikes me as maybe being consistent but not inspirational. Any one else got any views?

He seems to give up a lot of rebounds. I have been impressed by Preece though

2nd game I've seen tonight of this season, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far, we battle hard and heads don't drop when we go behind. I like the fact we are putting big hits in too. Ferrera is a great pick up, same with Dingle. Lauwers is a grafter and Preece is awesome for a back up. Does anyone know who ref was tonight? Number 41?

Think that it was Tom Pering. Can't argue with what he called but not too happy about some of the things he didn't call.

Officials against Amiens were ref Tom Pering with James Kavanagh and Danny Beresford on the line.
I'm liking the work ethic of the team and it has a bit of everything, speed, grit, goals and you can't fault the work ethic at all. I think we're definitely going to be a team that will need to go all out for 60 mins to beat the bigger teams but I think even when we lose we're going to be entertained and that ultimately is the main thing. We can all take a loss when you know the team has left it all on the ice.
Roll on Saturday when it all starts for real.

I agree about work ethic, all we asked last year was for players to make an effort, so far that's exactly what we have. Win or lose show effort like that and fans will be 100% behind the team.
