Of course it will all depend on Andy Buxton letting us have block 8 permanent because it would not really work from any other block Didn't Mr Buxton vist block 8 one week or was I just imaging this?

I can understand keeping the away fans together, but in important games against the likes of Nottingham and Sheffield there aren't enough seats in 6 and 7 for them. What would you propose; turn some of the away fans away or offer them alternate seating in block 9?

I think we are far too nice to away fans. The 'dome used to be a place opposition teams hated coming to because they got nothing. no quarter. the mouth on the mic should mention them twice. once at the very start and once at the very end. that's it. no constantly engaging them to be noisy etc. they should get a block and that's it. if more turn up then overspill them to a different block. I see no problem splitting them. why keep them all together and make it easy for them? THIS IS OUR HOME. not theirs. block 8 in recent games against steelers and panthers effectively nullified the large travelling support by splitting them, and drowning them out. it helped on the ice. it didn't happen against storm and they owned us, kept their team in the game far after they should have quit. long may block 8 continue. and whilst we should not discourage away fans, it is far past time we stopped pandering to them too. I would love to get back to a point where 2,700 blaze fans turn up each game and we are not so reliant on a few hundred panthers. the skydome needs to become a fortress again and I firmly believe the block 8 experiment is a huge step in the right direction.

As the goal judge at the block 8 end I had a headache by the end of the 2nd period. I also thought that putting the drums in the middle of the Steelers just made the Steelers' fans seem noisier. I have said this many times that it is the product on the ice that determines how loud the fans are. If the team care then the arena will rock. You could give every blaze fan a drum and if the team stinks the place out the arena will be silent.

I seem to remember going up to Braehead one season and us away fans being split up and on opposite sides of the arena, I can't remember if it was their 1st season or 2nd.

I'm not sure it's as simple as the team caring - I think people want success; fans would be noisy if the team were doing well regardless of how exciting the hockey is. It's been a difficult few seasons with a definite slump in performance and I think at the moment people just want to see consistency and more wins than losses. I doubt many people predicted an 8th place finish at the beginning of the season, or that they are happy with that. A strong playoff performance was good, but ultimately this is a British league and fans place more importance on the league title. It's not as if winning the playoffs is as arduous here as it is elsewhere with only 4 games to play, whereas the league title is about being good throughout the whole season.
With regards to splitting up the away fans, I'm not sure. I see no reason to discourage opposition fans to come to games, as much as they can annoy me! The more people that attend, the more money the club makes and the more stable the future. However I do agree that having a home game atmosphere and being more vocal than the away fans is important and not necessarily for the players, I think it makes attending home games more interesting and exciting but it does start with having something to cheer about.

Go back to block 1 for away fans as it was originally.

And move all those who have season tickets there? What about the overspill issue? Do you move block 2 fans as well or leave away fans to buy tickets in amongst Blaze fans? As important as away fans can be to finances, season ticket holders are what initially drives what players can be signed as it's guaranteed money before the start of the season.
I don't think there's much option but to use blocks 7/8/9 or the blocks around them as they're typically the least occupied by Blaze fans.

Here's a look at the seating: www.coventryblaze.co.uk/tickets/seating-planI really don't see an issue with sticking away fans in 9, 10 and 11. If there is overspill, they can always go towards 12. Yes, I'm sure some ST holders will grumble like people love too about change, but it's hardly going to be the end of the world is it. We're simply moving everyone up a block from 8 onwards.

Seems like a good a place as any to ask this. Should be moving back to Coventry after 14 years away this summer. Looking to get a season ticket next year so would welcome any expert opinions on where the best part of the SkyDome is to sit.

I sit in block 2 and really enjoy it, but then it's where all my friends have season tickets so not exactly unbiased!

Blocks 2, 3 and 4 seem to be your best bet from what I hear and see.

Can we steal a Panther chant Stewart - Stewart Just a thought I would definitely like to claim 'Stewart' or 'Stewie' as our own, to stop the other fans from taunting Brian with it. If we pick it up with enthusiasm when they start, it'll backfire nicely in them.

Yes, I'm sure some ST holders will grumble like people love too about change, but it's hardly going to be the end of the world is it. We're simply moving everyone up a block from 8 onwards. As an away fan I really don't mind where I sit but there are a couple of things the club need to think about before moving things around. Season ticket holders: you say that people will grumble but it's 'hardly the end of the world' , ST's bring in most of the money that helps start up a team for the season. Air fare, itc cards, securing accommodation, buying equipment etc.....These are the last people you dont want to annoy. Noise: as Hi De Hi posted earlier, the noise from the drums was very loud in the Sheffield game, would that get to/affect/ put off Stewart ? I know some may laugh at that but you never know how it affects people, otherwise, why would away fans chant an opposing players/NM names at crucial names if not to 'put them off' ? At the moment Stewart only has the odd chant/song from away fans. Drums are a totally different thing. Also splitting the away fans between 7 & 9 wasn't the best idea. Block 7 would be great for most games as away team only bring a few supporters but the games v Steelers /Panthers/ Devils (occasionally ) a lot of fans can be there. That would also need thought. Overall, management have to look at what is ultimately best for their own fans as they are the ones whose regular income keeps the club running BUT the away fans also need to be accommodated with thought because (again) as Hi De Hi posted, if the product on the ice is great, the fans will attend and make the atmosphere brilliant. The times it isn't and fans start to drop away, that's when you need the revenue from away fans which , when it's Notts/Shuff etc....can't be dismissed.
