As a group who tend towards a Canadian slant on life could we, as a club, do something towards the relief fund for the Canadian fires? Perhaps some sort of hockey themed event? I have been out of the actual playing loop for a while but would be happy to participate in the organising of a hockey event to raise money. Last time I was involved in a hockey fundraiser we exceeded £2k.
Perhaps a tournament involving all the Cov teams from the U8s right up to the EIHL players. It would need the involvement of the Skydome (Chris are you there?).
Anyone interested?

I'd happily come along and support this.

To be honest, something like that would be very difficult to setup and it would probably be far more cost effective if we just raised money for them throughout the leagues. I can't believe how bad this fire has gotten. It seems unreal every time I see it. If there's any good hockey players that need rehousing, we're more then happy to help them here

The last big one I help organise saw every team in Cov including every academy team, the Ladies team, the Uni team, two rec teams the ENL blaze team and several EIHL Blaze players playing as guests. We had a young tournament with the U10s to U16s in a group. Then we went on to an adult tournament. The young group hand handicaps to give the little teams a chance (plus the U10s had Adam Calder and Sylvain Cloutier playing for them). We had raffles, a programme and every play paid a £3 fee to take part. The biggest thing would be to get the rink for a whole evening. At the end of the night we had about £2400. I am sure we could pull in some sponsorship as well if we tried.
