Just trying to piece together our new team and what kind of players we might be looking for. (Yes, i'm bored)
Does anyone know the lines we ran with last year as i presume we'll keep some players together for the chemistry.

From memory I think the forward lines were:
Lauzon - Robinson - Bruton Fisher - Pietrus - Walker Tanaka - Cowley - Tait Venus
The D seemed to swap around a lot, but I think it was broadly Valabik - Jorgensen Noble - Godfrey Quenelle - Clements
Obviously that was when Issacs was the import to miss out.

Just to expand on that a bit, that would mean we're looking for 3 top 6 forwards - either a left wing, centre and right wing, or a left wing and 2 rights (depending on where Pietrus plays) - a bottom six forward - centre or left wing (depending on where Stewart plays) - plus a number 1 and a number 5 defenseman.

So in my ideal world i'd be hoping for something like
Sniper - Robinson - Bruton/Power Forward Tough guy - Petrius - Sniper Fisher - Myers/Brit - Stewart Venus - Cowley - Tait
But in the real world it will probably be more like
Sniper - Robinson - Bruton/Power Forward Fisher - Petrius - Sniper Young Import - Stewart - Tait Selby - Cowley - Venus

At the minute, I'm thinking/hoping for this in the top 6:
Sniper - Import - Bruton/Power Forward Fisher - Robinson - Pietrus
We struggled to win face offs at times last season, so I'm hoping one of our top six will be Greg Leeb-esque in the circle.
For the bottom 6, I'm thinking either:
Stewart - Cowley - Tait Venus - Tough Guy - Selby
or
Venus - Cowley - Tait Tough Guy - Stewart - Selby

I think they'll play Stewart on the 4th line to start with and keep the known 3rd line together as having some chemistry at the start of the season can be an advantage, but I do think it will change over the course of the season.

Following on from other posts on other threads - I'd pitch this as my projections
Bergman - centre - power forward (like Bruton.. or just Bruton, please?) Fisher - Robinson - Pietrus Venus - Cowley - Tait Selby - centre - Stewart (could also play C)
In this model, I'd like our remaining 4th line forward to be a tough guy and preferably a veteran presence to help the two young guys they'd be partnered with. That line would be an energy, eat-minutes line while the top 6 recover whereas the 3rd line would be the defensive minded set, maybe taking on the top lines of the other teams.
I'd hope there is money in the budget to accomodate all three of the remaining forwards being imports and I see no reason why we can't go with 14 imports next season. 1 NM, 5 D and 8 F.

I think those lines are looking pretty spot on. The Brit line as a checking line, the 2nd line as support which provides secondary scoring, leaving the first being the main provider and 4th line as prospects with some experience in an import.
We still have two defence slots to fill too. I really hope we go with two physical players. I don't mean Valabik or Olson, I mean physically strong like Eggy, Wood, Marsh etc.
