I wonder if the remaining two games might be against Milton Keynes? I can see them being regular pre-season opponents in the years to come.

That would be good if it was. Whilst EPL they will be a change from the normal teams we usually see.

They'll be EIHL soon enough, so they would probably see it in their interests to get an idea of the standard, albeit in a non competitive friendly.

Won't be going to Panthers or Devils games, get sick of seeing them so many times in a season.

By the end of the season I'll be fed up to the back teeth of seeing Belfast, Cardiff, Nottingham and Sheffield, the conference system with such a scant no. teams per conference just leads to stagnation in my opinion. Unless there is a package that makes it attractive to do so, I'll not be bothering with either Cardiff or Nottingham in the pre season games

glad I'm not the only one sick of the sight of the devils. is 12 games a season against them not enough or something? would rather a home and away vs storm (geographically closer than devils) in preseason than yet another meeting with the welsh. really glad to see foreign opposition added to the slate. would prefer to see epl teams for the other 2 games: a chance to work on systems in a game situation with hopefully slightly less intensity.

The booster club's periscope at the weekend included a bit of info from an off camera interview with Danny Stewart - they said the final two pre-season games will be against another EIHL team and a trophy/title will be awarded to the winner. They also said that we're looking to sign a Mike Egener type rather than an enforcer and that our next four signings will be high profile ones. I'm not sure if this backs up the suggestion that we'll only be signing another four imports or not. I'm not sure how long this will be available for, but here's the link: www.periscope.tv/w/1vAxRRrQyEyxl

So what is the import limit this season - is it 12 requiring a permit +2 dual nationals? Does Liam Stewart qualify as a dual - I assume so but don't know for certain

Max 14 imports, of which a maximum of 11 can be non-eu passport holders

Does Liam Stewart qualify as a dual - I assume so but don't know for certain As calv said above it's 11 + 3 and yes, Liam Stewart counts as a dual nat, as does Pietrus and Bergman would take the final EU spot, so the remaining imports don't require EU passports. So, it would seem that the money saved from replacing Chuck and not being in the continental cup isn't enough to sign an extra import, but is enough to add Selby and presumably upgrade on the likes of Trimm and Lukacevic that we started last season with? Two forwards and two defensemen left to sign then.

Thanks calv & chunk for the clarification. So if we have 4 to go, we'll start the season 1 down on our max quota. I do hope this proves to be far sighted rather than short sighted

Just odd that we could carry an extra import last year but seemingly cant sign the same amount this time

We have 5 import spots if we want them.

I think that's the point that people are making robplaister. We have 5 slots available but there's some discussion as to whether we're planning to fill them all or start the season one import shy of the full quota

We have 5 import spots if we want them. But are we going to fill them all? If not its a huge let down in my opinion

If not its a huge let down in my opinion But how far do you spread the budget to allow for this? we will in theory have exchanged tanaka for Selby and Stewart and changed coaches . Not knowing what other budget pressures the blaze have its hard to speculate ,on reflection I would prefer 4 stud players to finish the roster than 5 players that say may comprise 2 studs and 3 mediocre players. we will still have more depth than last year with 11forwards and 6d ,perhaps if crowds are good and we are doing well the last import slot might be utilised mid season.

Sorry but we carried a spare import last season, had im sure a far more expensive coach and I cant imagine Selby and Stewart are on vastly more than Tanaka. The final 4 players will have to be clear top end players for me to agree this is a good move. Later in the season fans will moan that we lack the 4 line depth of other conference sides and this would be the reason why. In a conference of 4 big spending teams if we are to go a man short it immediately puts us on the back foot and doesn't give out a good message to our rivals.
