I like this signing. Looks like he's more of a thoughtful, passing type player who sees the ice well. Definitely need a little bit of creativity in the roster and he could bring it.

I agree with all that - I'm just baffled by the line about him playing right wing. It looks like he's been playing as a centre in Germany, so why not pair him with Bergman and add Pietrus (or Bruton) to his other wing? Marquardt, Robinson and a goal scoring RW (or Pietrus) would then make up the other line in the top 2.

I would assume that this is fishers replacement. He looks to have a good skillset, but a bit more speed on fish, so possibly an upgrade?

I'd say he's an upgrade on Fisher purely on the consistency of his points production. Looks a good setup man

I guess we don't know who they've got lined up for the final forward spot. When that signing is completed it may all become clear. Or maybe it falls through and they have to re-jig plans a bit. One thing I do like is that there's flexibility. Robinson, Pietrus & Bombis can all play centre (maybe not their desired position but can play it...) - so there is the possibility to try different line combinations if needed until the right one is found; or to mitigate injuries etc.

The other thing I like is how far outside the box we've looked for signings. Who would've bet on us signing a German player that's spent his whole career in Germany or a Swede who's played in Scandinavia for the last seven years? It's usually players who are a year or two out of North American leagues that we'd go after. As I think I put on another thread, I'm hoping for a top line centre as the final signing. I thought we struggled at times to win face-offs last season, so with that in mind, I'd have Pietrus lining up alongside Robinson and ideally Marquardt on the other wing. That leaves us needing a top line centre who will line up with Bergman and Bombis. He'll need to score the goals provided by Bombis and provide for Bergman, whilst offering a little physicality, as I think that would be missing from that line otherwise - so it's not like I'm asking for much... ;-)
