Danny was quite open speaking about how he got into coaching and his experiences from his days at the Vipers and to being the assistant at Fife. Interestingly he was offered the AC's job at Sheffield by Thommo the other season too.
Looking to build the team that was mobile but wasn't going to be a pushover. The new D are meant to be physical but not spend too much time in the box as that defeats the point of going for depth and being able to roll four lines. Boutin is apparently a fast skater but very physical.
Danny didn't want the enforcer to be a top four D as that puts pressure on the rest when they have to go to the box.
We will hear the word "attitude" a lot. Their attitude as players, their personal attitudes to training, fitness and game days. He has already told them that the league and CC are every bit as important as the play offs and the fans expect that approach so they need to buy in from day one of being here. All the team has to be good skaters.
He's really looking forward to seeing the players and said Bombis is super keen to get here and relishing the challenge of playing in a new league. To the point of saying to Danny, "If you don't like what I can bring, sack me as I'll have no problem getting a slot back home." Danny said that he and Peasey were initially reticent but as he told us, if there was a Canadian flag next to his name on Elite Prospects you'd sign him, so we did. They were only reticent as there are not many German players playing outside of the German leagues as the standard is so good, you couldn't fault his pedigree just it was a market they wouldn't look to normally tap into.
