We were clearly struggling to score, so switching Zajac for a more creative forward makes sense. Carnevale certainly has the potential to score 20+ judging by his stats at similar levels to the EIHL (DEL2/Italy).
We won't require a change in the lines to accommodate him either as it's essentially one right centre out and another one in - I liked the make up of the lines we used in Edinburgh, so I hope they stay:
Marquardt - Robinson - Bombis Bergman - Carnevale - Pietrus Venus - Cowley - Tait (when fit) Klotz - L Stewart - Selby
We needed to do something and we have - it remains to be seen whether it's enough and I'm still very worried about our defence, but it's good to see us react quickly.
Having an EU passport gives us more options, should we make further changes along the line and it looks like he's played pre-season in the ECHL, so hopefully it won't take him long to get up to speed either.

I'm hopeful about the switch, but obviously it's not all statistical with forwards, as seen time after time with the likes of Tendler and Lawrence, all we can do is pray that he finds his feet quickly and can get a few high scoring games under his belt to help him settle.
But in reality he can't be much worse than Zajac, he (along with a few others) hasn't contributed enough points, regardless of how much effort and ice-time he puts in. If the puck isn't going in the net then regardless of how much work you put in, it's not worth it.
Just a few days till we get to see if he can put the puck away, we have enough playmakers to make it doable providing he's willing to shoot a little more than the rest of them.

I think Blaze were wise to wield the knife. Stewart had tried pretty much all the combinations he could and couldn't get a single effective line so changes were required. Zajac won face offs and worked hard but sadly that was pretty much the best we got from him and as IX2T311 (where does that name come from?) says it's about output not input, hopefully Carnevale will inspire some more confidence in the remaining top 5 and Blaze can srart to find a bit of form

If you're looking for more creativity on the top 6, then Zajac was the obvious choice. Not a bad player by any stretch, but a gritty forward not a creative one and as such possibly not the right fit at this time.

He did seem the least likely to get a goal at any point, and seeing as that's what we're lacking he was the best to switch. We can see Bombis can score from the preseason, and Bergman shows all the signs of knowing what to do, whereas Zajac looked slightly clueless in comparison.
My name is quite simply just a combination of my favourite letters and numbers, IX is my favourite Roman Numeral, 2 is my favourite month (February, I get paid monthly so I get to do the least amount of work this month, in a way), 3 is the single best mathematical number, and 11 was Shae Guthrie's number, probably my all time favourite Blaze player.

Ok ok - and I just know I'm going to regret this, why is 3 the best mathematical number?

Oh **** I knew, KNEW, I'd regret asking that question and it would seem I was right to do so
On a sad, geeky, I'm in my 50's bit of a technophobe vibe - how do you post you tube clips into your answer
Still got all my own own teeth you know

When you do reply (not a quick reply) - in the commands bar above the text box, there is a picture of a clapperboard. Click that, enter the Youtube URL in the box and click 'Insert Video' and it should be done for you
You can simply use the tags as well... exchanging round brackets for square brackets in :

Thanks Stuart. Have to be honest I've only ever posted quick replies before which probably helps explain my ignorance

Ah there are endless reasons why 3 is special, it takes 3 legs to make a table stand, and it takes 3 wheels to make a vehicle called a tricycle, every triangle has 3 corners, and every triangle has 3 sides. No more, no less. Also, unrelated to the song, 3 is a mirrored half of 8 (kind of, depending on how you write it), yet it isn't half of 8. Maths is flawed if you ask me.
But in seriousness, three is a just a nice round number, a good (poor, but closest integer) estimation for both e and π, a surprising majority of trigonometric identities and equations use three terms, and if not they're generally proven using triangles, and for my personal favourite (though it has no use, and does use 2 as well), 3^3=27, 27*2=54, and 54 is the smallest number which can be written as the sum of 3 squares in 3 different ways. (7^2+2^2+1^2), (6^2+3^3+3^2), (5^2+5^2+2^2)

And looking at the 54. 5+4 = 9 = 3^3/3
I do tenuous .....
