So - what do we think. A pretty satisfying result in Nottingham followed by a disappointment in Belfast. For me, we remain a bundle of inconsistencies.
Can't imagine we'll get anything away, home v Notts - could be 0, 1 or maybe 2. Middle for diddle a 1 point weekend?

I fancy us to pick up a win. I'm not sure which game to be honest, but I think we'll get something over the weekend. I have no reason to believe this other than instinct! So I'll go for two points, and I'll stick my neck on the line with a home win vs the Panthers.

Who knows? We have the most consistently inconsistent team. We can outplay the best team in the land for 40 minutes and lose. We can struggle to get a shot on goal and win. As long as we compete I don't really mind. I think we can write off this season already. I just hope that we keep the stars we have and dump the deadwood for next season. We could probably dump the deadwood now and it wouldn't make much difference.

I think we rattled them last time out, so I'm going for 2 in the principality and an OT loss on sunday

Actually feeling weirdly optimistic, though I think we all know that doesn't end well. I'm thinking a good 3 or 4 points this weekend, for no reason other than I woke up feeling just right.

So Mr Pessimism here already proved wrong, mind you I've only been following hockey for 40 years so what do I know ..... Fantastic away win - showed real character to bounce back having coughed up a 2 goal lead. Panthers are a beatable team - more of the same tomorrow and I'll be happier than I dared have thought.

had to chuckle at the highlights. Having read the Cardiff forum about what a girl Noble is and he was out of order for bordeleau hurting himself...having seen it, how very dare kevin noble get out of the way of a huge hit that was going to hurt him. its all his fault bordy couldn't stop himself face-planting the boards and doing himself a mischief. its all so unfair...

Great result last night, slightly irritating we couldn't close it cleanly but 2 points is 2 points and we hardly stand much of a chance at catching Cardiff anyway. I'm quite hopeful as to getting another 2 tonight actually, Nottingham are far from the force they once were, however the flip side of that is that they do seem to have had the best of us most games this season, hopefully recent form stays true. I'm feeling a 4 point weekend.

What a fantastic pair of performances. Bergman and B. Stewart outstanding all weekend. Showed resilience when giving up leads in both games that we may well have lost in previous weeks. Positive foundations to build on.

What a brilliant weekend!
Our top 2 lines seem to be really clicking. The cousins were well shut down when the opposition put a lot of size on the ice to nullify them, but our second line really came to the fore. How good is Bergman? Vital scoring came from the third and fourth, but they've been doing that all year really - the difference is we're much closer to the complete article now.
Defensively, there were still a couple of problems, particularly switching off after we scored our second last night, but we've improved on where we were at the start of the season and fortunately Brian Stewart was immense.
Why we've taken until Christmas to find our feet I don't know, but I'm really glad we have. The belief is obviously there now, they aren't giving up when we go a goal behind and look like they believe a result is possible for the full 60. Hopefully this means we'll push on and give Sheffield a much tougher time than we have so far this season.

A good character win and going to penalty shots against the Panthers is certainly not a bad thing, I'd sooner keep picking up 1 pt than none every weekend.
Whilst the teams around us have games in hand and likely an easier run in down the stretch if we can pick up a few wins while they lose we may well get above the Storm and catch up to Clan. Yes, they've games in hand but the pressure of needing to win over just playing is another mental strain.
Let's hope we can keep the home atmosphere going and if they play like they did last night, there's no reason why we can't.

Wonderful weekend of results, can't speak for Cardiff but Coventry definitely deserve the two points last night and what a way to get them! Penalty shots never get old, but those seemed especially tense!
Within the game we looked much more coherent than we have done in a long time, but we were still making plenty of errors, we gave up another two goal lead (kind of) which seems to be a running theme, with a stronger defence I'm convinced we could become a genuine threat to all teams. I'm not sure how I feel about Sheffield, they've had us beat this season and my gut's saying that trend will continue.
Bergman is really something else though, what a class player, both penalty shots he took were amazing and he was running rings round their defence all night, wonderful to watch, can almost see a touch of Ginand in him... Stewart also gave the best performance of the season, some incredible saves by him, was struggling to decide who I wanted for MoM, thinking back to the penalty shots I still get an ache in my knees!
Very excited to watch the highlights, and really really looking forward to next weekend.

So i'm watching the highlights of the weekend as I haven't seen them yet, and 3 minutes into the Cardiff video there's a 'hit' on Noble, to which the commentator says it's unsportsmanlike to get out of the way? I understand favouring your own team in 5050 calls but come on?? Just me?
The Cardiff game was a good one, I noticed we did very well to cover Stewart after the whistle, weeks ago we were leaving him out in the open so I'm happy to see that. Also a small footnote that both Bergman's opening goal and Almeida's closing goal were absolutely beautiful
Disappointed that I can't find the Nottingham highlights up yet, does anyone know where they are or when they'll be up? Thank you.

18 minutes and 44 seconds of highlights... shows what a good game it was.
