Only one game for us this weekend against a Sheffield side who lost to Fife in their last game and play in the Challenge Cup final the day after. You'd imagine they'd want to go into that final on the back of an easy win and as we've lost all 8 meetings between us this season, it's hard to see why the wouldn't get just that. Does anyone think we'll finally break our duck?
In the other fixtures at our end of the table, Manchester host Cardiff followed by an away trip to Belfast (Ouch!), Dundee host Braehead before a visit to Edinburgh, who start the weekend at Fife. Manchester also have a game on Wednesday away to Braehead. Looking at those games, we've at least a decent chance of holding onto 8th place, even after a regulation loss.

I don't see us getting anything from any of our remaining away fixtures (Sheffield / Belfast / Sheffield). Hopeful that we'd get 4 from the 2 home games (Fife / Braehead) If so that would give us 43 points.
I agree with chunk that we might still cling to 8th post this weekend but whether another 4pts in total is enough to hold 8th at the end of the season is, I think, a bit hopeful (not impossible but hopeful) If I was to hazard a guess, then at this stage I'd go Manchester 7th, Dundee 8th, Us 9th, Caps 10th.
Parlous state of Coventry hockey apart, I think this is a fantastic end of season with everything to play for at both ends of the table

I can see any extra points gained for OT/PS playing a big part in the final standings. For what it's worth I have us scraping into 8th place at the moment, a point above Dundee and with Manchester beating us on the tie breaker (regulation wins), so about as close as it could get. Edinburgh would need a good run of form to get back into it, but that's not totally out of the question.

The smart money is on Steelers icing a below strength team on Saturday due to CC final on Sunday and them being pretty much out of the title race. They can all be in face cages for me as long as we get 2 point out the game!

We certainly seemed happy to go out of our way to help when they wanted to reschedule the fixture.

Steelers are definitely not out of the running for the league and I don't think they believe they are either. For sure, it's in Cardiff's hands but the Devils have to travel to Sheffield twice this month as part of the run in. If Sheffield can win out, they will be in a very good position, particularly as Cardiff also have a double header against Belfast as well.

I don't think Steelers will go easy on us, in fact I think we will go easy on them, we have been easy on every other team this year.

Noble returns and we're full strength. Manchester losing in regulation last night does us a favour. I'm starting to think we might win this...

Well did I ever get that wrong!! Good call chunk you were spot on! I must admit I just couldn't see any way we were going to get anything tonight, let alone a fairly easy 2 points and that 2 points is absolutely massive for us right now. Watching (well following on twitter) the Giants / Storm, Stars / Clan games with interest. Well played Blaze and that win also really dents Sheffield's chances of the league this year.

Woohoo! Finally a win against Sheffield and 2 points that should make reaching the playoffs a lot easier. There's a good chance we'll make 7th now, but it will still be tight. Storm need to win in Braehead on Wednesday to get back into it, but even then, if we can win our last two home games I think that would be enough.
4 wins out of 5 too - that's as good a run of form as we've had all season, so hopefully we'll take that into Saturday's game and break our duck against Fife as well.
