Chuck's also part of the coaching team alongside Head Coach Pete Russell & Tom Watkins. It'll be interesting to see who gets dropped from the final squad - last year, GB took 3 NM, 7 D & 13 F. The WC tournament itself opens on Sun 17th Apr with GB (ranked 24th in the world) playing hosts Croatia (27th) on the first day. Other opponents are Estonia (29th), Lithuania (26th), Romania (28th) & Ukraine (21st).

will be at the skydome game. really enjoyed the last one I went to. should give us a good indication of where we are as a group going into the worlds. Next season I would like to see the international breaks honoured more and the younger players given slots in the squad for friendlies rather than more caps for the players who wont be around in a year or two.

And for last night's match - GB won 3-2 in OT. Goals from Farmer, Weaver & O'Connor - with Farmer getting 1+2 and MOM on the night.
Reports suggest that the Blaze line of Cowley, Tait & Venus were outstanding on Sunday and made their case to be included in the final 23.

Well done to all three, definitely well earned after last night's showing. They didn't get a goal, but they had good chances, did their normal job of grinding down the opponents. Certainly looked much better as a line, much more cohesive and structured than the others, and I think they will benefit from that familiarity and chemistry.

GB get a good start in their first game against the hosts Croatia, winning 4-1. Reasonable performance from Team GB - some nice goals. Could probably do with taking less penalties (standard international tournament line), but as an opener, it was pretty decent.
Lithuania beat Estonia 7-2 and Ukraine won 6-1 over Romania in the other two games today.
Next up is Estonia tomorrow, 3.30PM UK time. Lithuania play Romania, Ukraine take on Croatia.

Good start indeed, couldn't really have asked more. They won't get away with so many penalties in every game, need to cut out the silly ones.
Managed to find the Croatian TV stream and got it in sync with the BBC Radio commentary so could watch live rather than wait for Premier Sports to catch up.

Liked Cowley's contribution - the line with Tait and Peacock looked GB's strongest today. However, that's strongest in what was a distinctly sub-par performance. They will need to do better if they are going to be successful in this tournament (and comments from Pete Russell post-match suggest they know this as well!)

A big 8-0 win against a very poor (and unexpectedly so...) Lithuania side. Ross Venus picked up his first goal for GB (lovely strike) and in general, the Blaze players are having an excellent tournament.
In the three games played for all teams, Russ Cowley is the leading scorer so far (3+3) and also jointly leads the plus/minus as well (+6). Tait is 1+2, Venus is 1+1. Both of them are +4 in 3 games.
Next up is Romania on Friday lunchtime.

Worth saying that Romania got spanked by Croatia last night so here's hoping we can get a good number of goals but we need to ensure we get a win in regulation otherwise we are giving Ukraine an advantage should Saturday's game go to overtime. Ideally we need to have something left in the fuel tank against Ukraine too.

Ideally we need to have something left in the fuel tank against Ukraine too. Should we go to OT and win against Romania - that would give GB 10 points. Assuming a Ukraine regulation win against Lithuania tomorrow, they would have 12 points. That would mean a regulation win against Ukraine would be required for the gold medal. An OT win for GB would then give GB 12 points and Ukraine 13. Should we win in regulation against Romania - that would give GB 11 points against Ukraine's assumed 12. In that case, any sort of win against Ukraine would give GB the gold medal, as the first tiebreaker if the two teams are tied on points is the result of the game between the two teams. Essentially, goal difference isn't going to be important. Just have to keep on winning.

Surprisingly Ukraine lost to Lithuania. If GB avoid a regulation time loss against Ukraine tomorrow then we get promotion

Can't believe we blew it again like last year in Eindhoven. Great trip though, Zagreb is a great city. Just have to get promoted next year, maybe even on home ice

Me too, with Japan and not Korea coming down I think it's a straight fight between UK and Estonia. Croatia will back UK as we backed them this year. For me Belfast is too big and the Twitter conversations I'm having would indicate notbpopularvwith GB's travelling fans. There would certainly be some potential, political, issues given the quite overtly "British" nature of the GBSC. Ticket prices are another issue, 15 games in Zagreb was £20, that's almost the cost of 1 GB v Polsnd game. For me if it is the UK, and personallyni'd rather go to Tallinn, it has to be Braehead, Cov or Cardiff, that should ensure big crowds for GB games and a good atmospheres
