At some point I will calm down but after spending north of £800 for 4 people this weekend to be treated to a shocking effort and even more shocking attitudes I do not want to go on sat night the way I am currently feeling. I'm hacked off at spending £26 on webcasts - I really feel for you and the rest of the travelling support. I normally go, but couldn't get the time off work this year (lucky me!).

I wouldn't be so hacked off at 3 losses had we competed in any of the games. But we were dead and buried by the end of the 1st in all three. 4-3 to Fife flattered us. We were dreadful in every game. Its the first time I have heard boos at away games. the first time I have ever seen the blaze leave the ice at the end of a period to silence. Maybe 1 person applauded them off. You could have heard a pin drop. also the first time I have noticed open and concerted chanting for the coach to be sacked. Scotland was great, the hockey was awful. And (some) players tweeting thanks and apologies like it makes anything better...

Danny's had 24 (won 7, 29.17%). 29%?? That's ridiculous, I knew we were a losing side but barely scraping one win from four games is unacceptable, especially as spending seems to have increased over the seasons. This Blaze team are an insult, and though management are making mistakes I think the finger has to be pointed at Stewart, if these stats are genuine then he's doing diabolically bad, he has to fess up and either fix it, or step down. Yet I can't help but feel that after Stewart is long gone we'll still be cycling through the same kind of coaches. As I said I didn't see the games, but if what villadave says about them being booed off is true then the fans have definitely had enough of it, as they should be, if the fans are putting in their money and time, then the players need to step up and prove to the fans that they're worth it. They had every advantage possible this weekend, they even spent money from the booster club to arrive a day early, so claiming they were "too tired" is a bit of a weak excuse, just as them being low on confidence is another issue that Stewart should be fixing himself. On an off note, I'm sad to say but I think Brian S has had his day too, hats off to the guy he's been marvellous for us, but keeping the same netminder for too long is a mistake that too many clubs make, Nottingham did with Kowalski, Belfast are doing with Murphy, and we are with Stewart. Coaches and players figure them out, they get them sussed and they become (statistically) weaker, regardless of their actual form. Much love to the big man but he's had his time here, better to leave it on a positive note than a sour one. Finally, to be completely and brutally honest, either Danny is unfit to coach, or our management team are unfit to... manage? We could be rid of a good half of our squad, completely resign, and still be on par with where we are at the worst, probably even improve. Rant done, can't wait to do it all again next week.

Like you say though, it's very unusual to get that response and I've never heard it at an away game. Chanting for the coach to be sacked though... I'm sure that must be a first for our club.

Re: Brian Stewart.
From watching the games this season and especially the ones this weekend, it's pretty clear to me that he's not the issue. So many times over this weekend alone I watched him face an opposing player a yard outside his crease with our nearest defenseman behind the net or in a corner. That's not to mention the times I've seen our guys track a player towards the net only to then decide to move towards centre ice leaving a open route to our netty. It's not fair to put the fault at Stewie's door when you look at what our defence are doing. In spite of that, he's still making several outstanding saves a game. You could see his frustration over the weekend and it wouldn't surprise me if he's considering handing in his notice - I know I would be.

I'm sorry to say that I lay it Danny Stewart's door. I only went to the Fife and Caps games, but it was like watching a bunch of strangers play. If DS is using the same language to instil confidence and boost morale in the players that he's using with the supporters post match, it's hardly surprising that we are where we are. As has been stated, these aren't bad players, but getting them to click as a team is the coaches job.
Surely this can not be acceptable in anyone's book..

More #41 I have noticed watcing from behnd the net that our defenders have not always been blocking the route to the goal. The forwards have been able to skate towards Stewart all to easly, as a defender you have to hold up the attacker/get in his way. Though in defence of that defender it is all to often him (15/27/56) and 41 as the only two player behind 2 or 3 rushing forwards after we have given the puck away at the blue line. (Which blue line? - both) The guys aren't individually bad players, they are it seems not playing well as a unit, though you don't need me to tell you that.
On another note, when I spoke to Dannhy Stewart at the introduction night those many months ago I nearly asked (told) him to get the team playing before January as we havent done in the last 4 seasons. Wish I had now.

I think that there's plenty of other changes the Blaze need to consider ahead of Brian Stewart - the guy returned a 98.6% save percentage a few weekends ago. The reason why is not that he suddenly and temporarily elevated his performance but that the guys in front of him did so. I think that if we can turn around what the 5 in front of Brian are doing, we'll find that he's still more than capable of doing the job. Looking at the ease with which we give up the slot the current goals against is not surprising.

I just want to be clear, I am not advocating getting rid of #41. He is a great goalie and as chunk says is still making many class saves per game. I do however think that all oppo teams have adjusted to him now. Where we are falling down is we are letting teams get at him too easily. we allow them to skate in where they now have a better than evens chance of putting it past him as they are used to his style. we can no longer rely on him to save us. The lack of protection he gets from the D is outrageous. As someone else said, individually they are not bad players but as a unit they blow. big time. One flyers fan even said to me at the game that Stewie used to be their unsolvable problem when playing us. No longer.

I've listened to James Pease's interview/chat following the weekend four times now. The shortened version is his boss says Danny Stewart is 100% the man for this club, in this job, for now and for the future. The problem with the on ice area of the club is down to confidence, but him and Danny are going to fix it, starting against Cardiff. I guess I'd better buckle up and get used to it then.
It's interesting that Peasey's put himself out there and basically taken responsibility for Danny. It's also good to hear that everyone at the club is looking at themselves and seeing what else they can bring to the club, or do better. It would have been nice to hear more about Danny and his appointment. Basically, I'd have liked James to have said why he was so confident in him as a coach - perhaps that will come later.
