As for any MK brits I imagine that wont happen now as they will stay there for a year and come to the league with them. Griff and Chamberlain have already signed new two year deals with MK. Only Hook remains...(although for me, he would be the priority to sign up)

Valabik to leave along with Godfrey, if his release can be agreed. Also Walker to go and I presume Lauzon will join his friend Pacha at Storm. Im amazed how many seem to want Boris back given his limited enforcing and being a liability in many games due to his discipline issues. Until the playoffs began I would have released Tanaka without hesitation but I am 50/50 now. Bruton and Fisher are clear favourites to re-sign in my opinion. As for any MK brits I imagine that wont happen now as they will stay there for a year and come to the league with them. Valabik is Mr. Marmite - love him or hate him . Don't think I've ever known a player who divides the fan base so.

I'm personally not a fan of the Fisher re-signing if I'm honest.

Would have replaced, but it all depends on who's going to be signed around him I guess.

For me, this comes down to what deal he was given, which obviously includes housing his family. I suspected it was one of the better ones, but I've nothing to base that on really.
Looking at his past stats, he probably scored what was expected of him, gave a bit of something special in the penalty shots and worked hard off the puck, so as long as he's not one of our top earners then it's a good bit of business. Keeping a core should help us get off to a better start next season.
That being said, he wasn't in my "must-sign" list, so if Chuck doesn't stay then this is possibly a decision the new coach should've had a hand in.

Disappointed in this signing. Thought he looked promising at first and had some unlucky bounces and he would explode when he got on the board, but he didn't. Don't think he offered much apart from the penalty shots/ breakaways and personally thought he had his best games playing as D whilst in Tychy. We finished 8th for a reason. Every other team will look to improve. We at the moment have signed half of our statically worse ever elite league team.
Big question is who is signing them? As long as they fit into the coaches structure then fair enough, if we are signing them without know how they fit in to the coaches plans then that's a worry

I get the feeling Fisher had signed during the playoff run.

So far...
Forwards:
Jordan Pietrus Brett Robinson Drew Fisher
Defensemen:
Jim Jorgensen Kevin Noble Josh Godfrey
Netminders:
Brian Stewart
I wonder what the thinking behind the lines are at the moment.

It's great to have Russ back - he seems to be having an "Indian summer" career-wise and long may it continue!

Good news about Cowley. Hopefully Venus, Tait and Clements won't be far behind.

Just a thought, but with Griffin, Chalmers gone and with Cowley and Tait coming to thr end of their careers, does anyone else think we need to keep looking for Brits?
Of the new generation, we currently have Venus and Clements, but Hook's still out there and maybe we should get one more? Perhaps someone a bit more experienced in the EPL.

If we re-sign the brits we had at the end of last season and add the extra EU/import then we'd be one short of the number required for four lines. I'd guess that every other team in our conference will be running four lines next season, as will Braehead and potentially a couple more in the Gardiner. Hopefully we're at least talking with Lewis Hook and working out if the budget can stretch, so we can do the same. Edit: By four lines, I mean four forwards lines alongside six defensemen. With having Fisher and Cowley in the forward group, we have two players who can cover on D if needed, so the depth would be there.

It's great to see Ross back too. He's really developed into the defensive forward/penalty killing role since Chuck's come in and getting him for 2 years is a shrewd move by the club.

I agree - keeping Venus is key for the depth of the side and for the special teams. Great news from the club.
If they can re-sign Tait plus one other British forward (Lewis Hook please thank you) - then running four lines is a realistic opportunity for the Blaze.
import - Robinson - import Fisher - import - Pietrus Venus - Cowley - Tait (?) Hook - import - import
import - Noble Godfrey - Jorgensen import - Clements (?)
Stewart Brit NM - Marr (?)
Imports in bold - unsigned or unconfirmed in italics
Obviously you could juggle the lines up any which way you liked - but 14 imports, 6 Brits - 20 man squad. We had 19 players at the end of last season including 14 imports, so it's not out of the realms of budget possibility.

Brilliant to tie Ross in for two years, fingers crossed for Clem.
