Like the look of him but not many pens (not that that is a bad thing) but suggests to me he's a big player with skill but not a power forward

Sounds like a guy with a strong work ethic not just coming over for the masters but actually to play as a team.

Sounds like Matt will bring the right work ethic and attitude to the dressing room - in fact that can be said about all of the new signings.
He sounds very much like Bruton, just a bit bigger, although I'm not sure I'd expect him to score as many goals. If he's coming in to take Fisher's position on the second line then I'd say that's an upgrade. I've not been as excited about the coming season as I have previously, but I do like the look of the team so far.
For the last two forwards, I'd like a centre (ideally a right shot) who's great in the circle and will get at least 20 goals and a right wing capable of 25 plus (Chris Bruton).

Great social media coverage on the recent signings again puts some other clubs to shame . The side is starting to shape up now hopefully we will be a potent mix of grit and skill.

So now we're just awaiting one forward, what are people's thoughts on the lines we'll start the season with?
My best guess is this, with the last import being a goal scoring centre:
Bergman - Import - Bombis Marquardt - Robinson - Pietrus Venus - Cowley - Tait Klotz - Stewart - Selby
I sort of feel that the first line is too lightweight, so might swap Bergman with Marquardt, but then I think the final import would need to be a real sniper of a centre (Ginand-esque) or it will be a bit short on goals.

Pietrus and Robinson will be the 2 centres. The last import signing will be a wing.

Pietrus and Robinson will be the 2 centres. The last import signing will be a wing. That's easier to make the lines work then - Move Pietrus up with Bergman and Bombis, put the new guy alongside Robinson and Marquardt and then hope he scores a lot of goals.

Darcy Zajac is the last forward - can play right wing or centre, giving us versatility in the lines. Over 250 AHL games, decent scoring rate and good experience, could be a good pick up.

The number of AHL games is impressive and played there not long ago. But his ECHL and Danish stats don't jump out at me.
The gulf between us and Steelers, Devils and Clan seems to have grown exponentially this season

I think we look workmanlike enough. Don't see a real Ginand / Calder flair type so we're going to have to look for more balanced scoring across the lines which sounds great but teams do need a go-to player. Not sure who ours will be though. Under Danny, I think we'll be more entertaining than last year (god but I hope so) - there's some pretty serious signings elsewhere so far and as the poor boy of our conference, not only will we eed to punch above our weight, we will need to be competitive from day 1
PS is it just me or is having a full price pre season game mid week, between our our 1st CC game and our 1st League game a bit of an invitation for an empty rink? What's the incentive to attend that one?

So just the one signing to go now - what would people like to see from the final announcement?
For me, I still think we could use some size at the back, someone who can clear the bigger opposition forwards away from our net. I agree that we've gone for a hard working, gritty forward unit, which means we're potentially lacking flair/goals, so if the last man could score a few as well then it would certainly help. Someone in the Mike Egener mould perhaps? That would give us a nice balance at the back I think.
We've got a few puck moving Dmen now with Boutin coming in, so hopefully they'll bring the best out of the forwards and as far as the "go to player's" concerned - I think we need that from Bergman.

Personally I think we need a crease clearer. I think we generally we seem a little light in height and body mass. Not looking for a fighter per se, think I agree with Chunk - a Mike Egener type for me - a physical, hard hitting no nonsense player who prefers ice time to sin bin time.

Interesting table on twitter posted by Dave Sweetin which seems to disprove my fear that we are little short of height and mass. I don't think I can post it here as an image (Can I - does anyone know?) Here's the link for anyone interested twitter.com/search?q=dave%20sweetin&src=typd&lang=en-gb

I could put the average weight up by about half a stone and the average age up by a couple of years as well.
