Lake looks like a good energy guy who will get a few more goals than Liam, therefore an upgrade. Liam himself said Lake was a good player, they were at Alaska together.
The interesting part of the Danny Stewart interview was that he's looking still to sign his top 3 D with Lauwers in at no 5. It sounds like we're going with 10, but maybe 11 outskaters from that interview.
Agree with the other posters we do need that stud goal scorer, or two, up front but there's a long time between now and the end August to find them.

It's nothing to do with crying or whinging about how we've already set ourselves up to fail, in the most unpredictable conference with two entirely new teams and 2 more very changed teams it'd be impossible to try and guess, I just feel disappointed that we've only brought in one impressive player in Dingle for the first two months.
I understand there's another 2 months to go, but we're halfway through the off-season with 2 netties and half our squad left to sign, most of which are going to have to be on the more big-budget end of the wage bill.

Wouldn't you prefer we take our time to find the right top end players though? Your recruitment policy appears to be sign the first good player there is and by then its too late if a better option becomes available.

We have a goalie. 6ft1 Kevin Nastiuk. Lots if DEL and DEL2 experience, as well as good numbers in America in the ECHL, AHL, CHL and WHL. Only concern being he missed some time with a broken thumb last year, although posted good numbers in the playoffs on his return. Looks good, I'm happy with that.

I like the look of him - as dudestar says he has a wealth of experience. Getting the right NM is so critical and Coventry have (I think) a good track record in this regard (one JF apart) and I'm hopeful that Nastiuk can maintain that tradition. Well played to Danny, I think he's made a good signing here.

Gaelan Patterson signs onto the blue line. 6'1 offensive D Man, who has played forward. Apparently a good skater with a good pass. Looks like Jorgys replacement. We shall see if he can match Jim's first season performance, but he's played in decent leagues, and looks quite good in highlights. Still not seeing a number one or two here though, I'm hoping they're still to come. Also, from the PR, looks like Robbos first contribution as assistant coach.

Looks like a Godfrey replacement to me and considering the level he played at then Patterson is already better.

I found the sound of the press release and the consequent analysis by Brett Robinson a little confusing. We sign a D-man and then focus entirely on his offensive capability so I have no idea as to what is his defensive style. Originally I too thought a Jorgensen replacement but fanta may well be right about Godfrey. His pedigree is quite impressive - you don't get 120 odd AHL games under your belt by being a slouch.

Have we just signed up the tallest backup in the league? 6'5 Brython Preece, 19 yr old welshman who came through the devil's juniors before moving across the pond. Looks decent for a backup, and hopefully with the (albeit highly unlikely) possibility of calling Marr up, we look pretty tidy in the goalie dept.

So this is how we stand at the mo (plus Marr, Stone and Stokes on two ways) :
Goalies #52 Kevin Nastiuk * #30 Brython Preece
D-Men #7 Dax Lauwers * #8 Gaelan Patterson * #56 Kevin Noble * #58 David Clements
Forwards #9 Ben Lake * #16 Jordan Pietrus * #19 Ryan Dingle * #23 Brett Robinson * #29 Luke Ferrara #47 Danick Paquette * #59 Ross Venus
What do people think lines will look like and what do we still need?

I'm assuming (hoping?) that we're looking like this: Import - Dingle - Import Import - Robinson - Paquette Lake - Pietrus - Ferrara/Venus Top line - I'd like to see an out and out sniper for the RW spot and a power forward on the left. 2nd line - A play maker come sniper to compliment Robinson. Patterson - Import Noble - Import Lauwers - Clements Top line - I'd like a stay at home defensemen with size (a strong shot would be a bonus). 2nd line - A good two way who can play in all situations.

Looks alright. But then he's one of many 'alright' signings. Looks like we're going with the radical tactic of not having a first line.

Must admit I'm getting a bit jittery. We need 4 stud signings and the clock is well and truly ticking. Would love to know if DS is calmly confident or beginning to twitch

Less than 4 weeks to the first game.

So Marc Olivier Vallerand is the top line RW. 0.91 ppg over 250+ ECHL games, over 1.00 at plenty of his other clubs. Some experience in Europe, and a good junior career. Being the all time leader in goals and assists (and points) is respectable anywhere, and the ECHL usually compares well with the EIHL. Quite a good signing, but then it had to be... One down, three to go.

I think he will do quite well here and plenty of big ice experience in Europe can only be a good thing
