Quite a decent signing on paper I think. Good points in US and in Europe, see no reason why he shouldn't do well for us too.

Blaze sign Adam Courchaine - should be able to score for fun in our league I think. www.coventryblaze.co.uk/news/stewart-secures-courchaine-coup-20170731If I have a concern (not about Courchaine but about our forwards overall) it's that I still think we lack some height and body mass. We only have one forward above 6' - Brett Robinson at 6' 1" Maybe just me but I do think we'd have a better balance were we to have at least one player in that kind of power forward type of role. Hopefully my concerns are unfounded. 2 D to go and then roll on Aug 23.

Last two forwards appear to be quality additions. With two D to finalise the squad do they have to be European or dual nationals?as so far we only have one dual in pietrus and I thought you could only have 11 full imports.

The Power forward is Paquette isn't it? Ok, he's 'only' 6 foot but that's what i'd consider him as.

Yeah - I don't diagree that that's going to be his role, I was thinking of a more "classical" type with some height and weight to enable him to occupy the crease a bit.

I think he looks good but i think Blaze will pile a lot more pressure/responsibility on him than he's previously had. Because of that and his age i can see him being gonr by xmas

He's very young isn't he, Kenny Kallstrom came with Allvenskan experience and he never looked even vaguely comfortable in a Blaze shirt. I must admit for one of our final 2 D, I'm a trifle underwhelmed.
Maybe I'm jut an old grump but this the most unexcited I've felt about a Blaze team in some time, I'm just not feeling it. Hopefully I'm way off beam and the squad will excite on the ice

I'm withholding judgement on this team until I see them after a few weeks we will know. Fingers crossed we are both wrong!

Definitely a wait and see signing . Last d is hopefully a gnarled and nasty beast who plays the body, mean and miserable but not a wing nut.
Great clips and media again accompanying the news of his signing.

So from the Stewart interview we're after a top pairing D man who is also big and tough and can play big minutes, but admits that players like that usually play at a higher level. So christ knows what we'll end up with.
I don't want the wrong type of player just signed as we need a guy but starting the season without a top pairing d man is shooting yourself in the foot from the start.

It is completely unacceptable that we look like we are going to be starting the season without a top pairing defenceman. Sure, he may sign during pre-season, but then how long are we going to have to wait for him to come over, and the league will have started by the time he is acclimatised.
Once again, the coach and the top management of the club are left looking like the Chuckle Brothers. The only professional thing about this club in the last year has been the media output.

I can accept not having him for the preseason but I'll be decidedly unimpressed if we go into our first proper game being a key D-man short.

Courchaine still isn't here and he signed in July so even getting a contract back we are waiting 3 weeks til any player arrives and the season will be underway. Shocking decision by Stewart in a long line of them since he began as coach.

Who would have thought that we would be watching a tram where Ross Venus is the veteran?

So Vojtech Kloz is our "physical d-man who can play top pairing minutes".
Having seen him play 5-6 times over the last couple of years, I can say that the likelihood of him doing either is very limited.
